The UK's wildflower meadows are in serious trouble with a reported decline of 97% since the 1930's. This is a known key contributor to the decline in bee numbers over subsequent decades. Wildflower meadows provide Britain's bees with an important source of nectar and pollen throughout the summer and they are crucial to the future of our bees.
Here at Bee Good we've launched our 'Make a Meadow' campaign with a threefold aim:
We encourage everyone to make their garden more attractive to bees by planting anything from a window box or flower pot to a planted border.
We aim to bring groups and communities together and to share our passion for our British bees through participation in events, talks, social media, videos etc.
Spearheaded by Simon, our co-founder and beekeeper, we can be a voice for our bees! Simon teaches and mentors youngsters in beekeeping and Bee Good actively invests in sponsoring young bee apprentices in the UK.
Since we launched in 2014, we have distributed almost 300,000 wildflower seeds to customers and friends.
How can you help?
For every order placed on our website, we pledge to sow wildflower seeds. We also include a Seedball containing 100 wildflower seeds in every online order so our customers can join us in helping our British bees whilst at the same time enjoying some summer colour whether it be in a small flower pot, an allotment or a back garden.
We love to see pictures of your wildflowers so please do share them with us via firstname.lastname@example.org or via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!
