Bee Good is an independent British skincare company based in rural Hampshire. We harness the potent properties of honey bee ingredients and expertly blend them with naturally active botanicals to create a range of gentle yet effective skincare for women and men of all ages and all skin types.
Bee Good was born in 2008 by husband and wife team, Simon and Caroline. As an experienced beekeeper for over 12 years, Simon keeps a number of hives to the highest standards in old orchards surrounding his home in rural Hampshire. As a champion of British beekeeping, Simon is an ex Trustee of the British Beekeeper’s Association and an experienced tutor and mentor to other local beekeepers. You can read Simon’s latest tales of his bees in our blog.
Simon & Caroline - Founders of Bee Good in the kitchen where it all started...
It was Caroline’s interest in harnessing the excess honey and beeswax to create natural skincare products which led to the first award-winning Bee Good products; a lip balm and a hand cream; made in Caroline’s kitchen using centuries-old recipes and sold at local Hampshire farmer’s markets. We continued to win awards, being judged the best cosmetics by our fellow beekeepers (they are a tough crowd to please!) at the Hampshire Honey Show in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013!
The response from our customers was overwhelming as they came back for more and spread the word amongst family and friends. It wasn’t long before customers were asking Simon when he was going to “do this full-time”! So eventually, in 2013 Simon recruited a small team of industry experts with similar beliefs and passion for natural skincare. Our ambition is to grow Bee Good whilst staying true to our roots and what makes us what we are – our British bees.
Bee Good still harvest a small amount of honey, beeswax and propolis from their own bees, but as the company expanded we now source materials from other commercial British bee farmers most of whom are family run businesses.
Supporting Apprentice Bee Farmers
There are only a few hundred bee farmers in the UK and in order to secure their future, the Bee Farmers Association have created a fully accredited apprentice scheme. We've previously sponsored two of these apprentices Sebastian (Seb) and Lara whose family run Beekeeper Honey and help supply us with 100% British bee products. As we grow, we plan to sponsor more apprentices like Lara to secure our long term future as well as supporting more local initiatives.
