This week we welcome beauty blogger, Aarti Jonas from MrsJonasRecommends.com as our guest on the Bee Good blog. As runner-up in our Great British Lip Balm Competition 2015, Aarti shares her thoughts on all things blogging, beauty and the inspiration behind her zesty lip balm flavour.
How did you start out blogging?
Through my previous job role which involved working with brands and bloggers. I was new to this way of working and was curious as to how you actually start and make a website function and then make it successful. So what started out as curiosity on my part soon turned into an expensive hobby and now it is my main focus.
Who/what is your inspiration? (Whether in the blogging world or outside this).
The people I surround myself with – my family and friends, and most importantly my husband. (Mr J as I like to refer to him in my posts.) He pushes me and gives me the confidence to believe that I can achieve anything if I really want to.
What do you love most about blogging?
Being able to share my discoveries and opinions with my readers and introduce them to new products. There is so much joy in sharing experiences or just sharing my point of view.
What was the inspiration for your Bee Good lip balm flavour?
When I initially entered the Bee Good Lip Balm competition, the criteria was that we could be as experimental as we wished. We just had to remember that the chosen flavour would have to appeal to the mass market. With that in mind, and having done my research on Bee Good as a brand I wanted to remain true to it's core. I thought of ingredients that would work well with the bees; also to use something unique that had not been used before in any of the Bee Good range. The weekend before I entered the main competition, I and Mr J had perfectly timed a weekend visiting his parents in the lovely green countryside. During our visit, we had some lengthy discussions and experiments with some fresh Lime Blossom tea to see how it smelt. That was when the idea of lime blossom and honey came about and was subsequently submitted. The lime blossom gave a fresh spring-like scent.
What is your favourite Bee Good product?
Oh that’s a hard one as I like all the products especially the new NectaPerfecta Beautifying Mask that you can read about here. However, if I had to choose my current favourite, it would have to be the intensive hand cream. It is creamy yet not overbearing and great at keeping my hands moisturised during these winter months.
If there was a product that you had to choose to take on a desert island what would it be?
It would have to be a balm, a multipurpose one that is a bit like the NectaPerfecta enzyme mask. That way I can use it as a face mask, hair mask, cuticle balm, dry skin balm, etc.
What was the most exciting thing about taking part in Bee Good's Great British Lip Balm competition?
Being able to create a product from an idea all the way to the development stage and knowing that I have been able to contribute. Also, meeting all the other applicants and the team behind Bee Good.
Why do you think your flavour will appeal to Bee Good customers?
The chosen flavour and ingredients have been carefully selected to compliment the ingredient honey – all with the aim to continue to support the Bee Good company ethos. Lime Blossom is also native to Britain and will evoke the natural exotic floral smell that the tree possesses. It is simply perfect not only for Spring or Summer, but all year round.
The lime blossom & honey combination really makes us think of the beauty of Spring with balmy days and fragrant blooms. What do you love most about Spring?
The visible change of the seasons, emerging greenery and blossoming flowers. Also the feeling of being able to take a walk outdoors without millions of layers and that feeling of a fresh start on crisp mornings, plus brighter and warmer days of course!
