As Christmas fast approaches, we take 10 minutes out with our co-founders Simon & Caroline to delve into their Christmas wishes, plans and family traditions!
What do you love most about Christmas?
Caroline: Having time out to put our feet up and be with family and friends. With the beehives tucked up for winter now we have more of our time to do this. But Simon is already planning next year's activities with the bees already!
Do you have any festive family traditions?
Simon: A large wall hanging Father Christmas advent calendar Caroline made when the children were small always goes up on the wall. We have fun filling it with goodies. Even though the children are older now they still enjoy having something each morning leading up to the big day.
What will you be tucking into on Christmas day...and is there any honey involved?!
Simon: Absolutely the full festive works for us! Although we love turkey, we sometimes have beef as an alternative. This year our friends are hosting, so it will be a surprise. We will definitely take honey to glaze the carrots and our honey mead for later. This year we’ve also been given a bottle of Cornish Gwires - distilled mead that's basically 40% proof!
What's on your Christmas wish list this year?
Caroline: A short, sharp and cold winter followed by a warm Spring is what we wish for. This gives the best start for the bees. Oh and Simon still always waits with anticipation to see if he gets a 'bee related' present!
Strictly colour co-ordinated, full-on traditional or a pared-back natural look - what is the 'theme' for the festive decor in your home this year?
Caroline: If the children had it their way it would be the full colourful, not necessarily co-ordinated look. They are allowed to dress the tree, but the rest of the house has the more natural look with holly and ivy and a few strategically placed trinkets.
Any top tips for a stress-free Christmas?
Caroline: Go with the flow, inevitably things like lunch can turn out to be later than expected, so relax and have a glass of wine. Things always look better when you take the pressure off, enjoy a glass of wine and take some time to enjoy the day yourself!
