Last Friday saw our semi-finalists attend the judging day at Waitrose head office with Mark, Bethan and Alex from the Waitrose team plus Simon, Toni & Rebecca from team Bee Good. And I think it's fair to say that we were all completely wowed by the time, effort and thought that had gone into the creation of the five semi-final flavours.
Taking a product from concept to its first physical lab sample and testing those is always a really exciting highlight in any new product development process, but it was even more so on Friday as the room buzzed with discussions about likes, potential development and most importantly, how the flavours performed in reality!
As a quick reminder, the flavours we tested were: Lime Blossom & Honey (Aarti Jonas), Chamomile & Honey (Lottie Pearce), Apple Crumble (Serena Ozgowicz), Raspberry & White Chocolate (Joseph Harwood) and Rose & Honey (Bettina Hunt).
Once the meeting was over, it was down to the Waitrose / Bee Good team of judges to shortlist down from five to three....and it was hard. Not only did we want a flavour which worked and tasted great, but one which would appeal to our Bee Good & Waitrose customers, which fitted with our British brand and which was new and distinct in the market. So, after several days of debating, we are really excited to announce our three finalists...(cue drum roll!)
The 3 flavours which are going through to the public vote are...
Raspberry & White Chocolate
- Deliciously fruity notes of British wild raspberry, combined with sweet hints of decadent white chocolate
Rose & Honey
- Combining the soothing aromas of an English rose garden with a swirl of British wild flower honey
Lime Blossom & Honey
- A fresh, zesty interpretation of bee-friendly lime blossom, with delicate floral & sweet British wild flower honey notes
So now it's over to you to decide which of the above three flavours will go on to win and be sold in 100 Waitrose stores later this year. Which is your favourite? Vote now!
We look forward to announcing the winner in mid-June.
