Ayurvedic texts described treating wounds and sores with honey and said this sweet elixir could soothe pain, act as an antiseptic and speed up the healing of burns and other skin damage. The Egyptians and the Greeks widely reported experiencing first-hand the healing properties of honey in many guises when applied topically to the skin.
