Spring is in full bloom and it’s the perfect time for a little refresh, don’t you think? Maybe it’s time to dust off those summer clothes tucked away in the loft or perhaps add a dash of colour to your garden with some new plants.
And guess what? It’s also the ideal time of year to show your skin some extra love with a few simple tweaks to your skincare routine that will keep your skin glowing all the way through to summer.
1. Cover Up
It’s a great idea to start using facial sunscreen, as we’ll all be getting a little more sun with the longer days, irrespective of what the weather is up to. We don’t include sunscreen in our products as you’ve told us that you like to choose your own to suit your individual skin needs. We’d recommend you use a specialist facial sunscreen that suits your skin type and wear a hat on sunny days for complete protection.
2. Ramp Up Your Cleanse
Along with the great protection, sunscreens mean an additional layer of product to take off at night, so it’s time to kick the cleansing up a gear.
A quick swipe with a wipe isn’t going to cut (for your face or the planet) and many skin experts swear by double-cleansing (using an oil-based cleanser, followed by a water-based cleanser such as our Honey & Propolis Cream Cleanser).
If that sounds a little too much like hard work, a really good cream or balm cleanser should be up to the job.
3. Lighten Up
When we asked on our social media platforms for your top Spring skincare swaps, a lot of people mentioned changing your moisturiser for something lighter now it’s a little warmer.
“Hydration, hydration, hydration! I’ve also opted for moisturisers that feel a bit lighter in formula now the sun has started to make an appearance too”
Lauren at The Make-Up Maestro
“Swapping your moisturiser for something a little lighter is key, as our skin tends to hold more water in the spring and summer. Of course, I still use an SPF!”
Laura at A Beauty Addict
4. Exfoliate
If you’re after a spring glow, then exfoliation is a must. As we age, the rate at which our skin turns over and gets rid of old skin cells slows.
Exfoliating helps this process along so that your skin can absorb moisture more effectively and look so much dewier.
We recommend exfoliating your skin at least once a week and up to 2-3 times a week, depending upon your age and skin type.
Our Honey & Camelina Facial Exfoliator uses rolled lavender flowers and not micro-beads to lift dead skin cells gently.
If you’d like to give your skincare routine a good Spring clean, why not try our Facial Exfoliator? You can still keep your skincare routine simple, cut down on unnecessary products and have glowing skin all through the summer months as you enjoy making the most of being outdoors.
